Please come to the hospital two and one half hours before the time you are scheduled to have surgery. For example, if your surgery is scheduled for 12:00 noon, you should arrive in the Admitting Office at 9:30 a.m. The only exception is to this rule is when your surgery is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. In this case, please arrive at the Admitting Office no later than 6:00 a.m.
When you arrive, please go to the Admitting Office (off the main lobby at 75 Francis St.) for check in.
From the Admitting Office you will be escorted to the Day Surgery Area where you will check your belongings. From there you will go to a pre-operative area which is staffed by nurses and where you will meet with the anesthesiologist.
Family members are welcome to be with you on the morning of your surgery. They can stay with you until you leave the Day Surgery Area for the pre-operative area.
When the beeper sounds, family members/friends are asked to call or return to the Liaison area. Once there, they will speak with the surgeon in person or by phone. Family members/friends not wishing or unable to wait in the hospital may leave a phone number with the Surgical Liaison Office.
